    3 Way Taps

We also stock a range of three way taps this example shows hot normal operation, cold water normal operation and pure water achieved by pushing the cold water handle backwards.

These taps are suitable for granite or marble worktops that would replace your existing monoblock tap without the need to drill a new hole to install the drinking water outlet

    Water Softeners

The Sapphire & Opal water softeners provide scale-free water for residential use. Softened water does not produce limescale, meaning their are no more build ups of scale around faucets and shower-heads. Softened water also increases the effectiveness and lifespan of appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines. Heating bills can also be reduced due to a lack of scale build up in pipework and within your boiler.

All our water softeners are installed with a 1″ Clack Valve providing timed or metered regeneration. Meter-controlled models measure the amount of water consumption and only regenerate when necessary. This saves both on salt and water used during the softener regeneration process. Time clock water softeners regenerate on a calendar which is pre-set but can easily be changed, normally every 2 or 3 days.

    Opal & Sapphire Water Softeners:
    • Designed and built in the UK, with patented USA Clack Valves.
    • Stylish and ergonomic, designed specifically for modern living.
    • Luxurious, giving silky smooth water for the whole house, large or small. It makes showers and baths a pleasurable experience.
    • Efficient and carbon neutral reducing your energy costs with no cost to the planet. Reducing your needs for detergents and other cleaning products.
    • Kind on clothes, laundry feels fresher with only a fraction of detergent used.
    • Save you money on energy bills

    Bacteria

Ultra violet units (to protect against the infestation of bacteria in your water supply as it is delivered to your internal household plumbing.

    Blackcomb UV Controller

The full colour UV Controller that comes standard with all Blackcomb models provides you with up-to-date, accurate information concerning your UV system and any extra modules you have installed. Utilising a clear, simple-to-read traffic light system, the UV controller screen displays green for good, amber for attention and red for warning. As standard, the controller will display the following:

    Lamp Replacement Countdown

A Blackcomb UV lamp requires replacing every 9,000 hours (1 year). The Lamp Replacement Countdown will display the number of days left before the UV bulb needs to be replaced. When there are only 30 days left, an intermittent audio/visual alarm will be activated. If the countdown reaches 0 days, then a continuous audio/visual alarm will be activated until the bulb is replaced. This enables customers to keep track on when they need to replace their UV bulbs and ensure their water supply is continuously protected.

    Lamp Failure Alarm

Should the lamp fail for any reason, an audio/visual alarm will automatically trigger, alerting users to the fault and that the safety of their water supply is currently comprised.

The Controller is able to inform users of the part numbers for both the UV lamp and the Quartz Sleeve installed in the unit. This is particularly useful when needing to replace either of these, as they are able to relay those codes straight to their dealer, streamlining the entire process.

Iron and Manganese Treatment for Borehole and Wells

THE EFFECTS OF IRON & MANGANESE

    Iron in Water

If you have a private water supply such as a well or borehole, then there is a high chance you’ll have iron present in the water. Iron is the most common contaminant in private water supplies and it can alter the taste of water, the colour and can leave unsightly marks and staining on every surface.

    Types of Iron

The most typical forms of iron found in a water supply are ferrous (or dissolved) iron (Fe2+), and ferric (or suspended) iron (Fe3+).

Ferrous iron is also known as clear-water iron because it can be present in quite high amounts within a water supply and the water will still appear clear. However, once the water has been standing for a while and comes into contact with oxygen, it leaves brown, orange or red stains on surfaces such as toilets, basins, sinks and tiling.

Ferric iron turns the water yellow or brown from it’s contamination. It is most often found in oxygen-rich water sources which has already started the oxidisation process. Because Ferric iron is insoluble it causes the water to be “thicker” and thus can clog pipes and home appliances.
Iron can also be present as organic iron (mixed with organic substances causing muddy water colour and severe staining) and colloidal (colourless, tasteless and odourless but still causes staining).

    Manganese in Water

Manganese in water has a similar effect as iron, leaving dark stains (ranging from brown to black) on surfaces as well as causing clogging in pipes and appliances. Manganese is more rare than iron, however it is frequently found in water with high iron content. In higher volumes, water can contain black sediment or turbidity due to the precipitated Manganese. Manganese can be more problematic to remove from water than iron.

Is Manganese Bad for your Health?

In lower concentrations, there are no issues in consuming water with manganese in it, neither is there a problem with bathing in it. When the volume of manganese in water gets higher than 0.05mg/l, it may affect the taste, colour and odour of the water. However, manganese affecting health is not a concern until concentrations are almost ten times higher.
The biggest issue with manganese is the unsightly staining it causes to surfaces that the contaminated water touches

    Acidic Water

Symptoms green staining, corrosion of pipe and fittings, and a tell-tale sign of green in your hair.

Soda ash injection and alkaline mineral for the treatment of the acidic water.

Acid water filtration and injection systems will raise the pH of the water to an alkaline level reducing the corrosion caused by the acidic water (green staining of sanitary ware, showerheads, tiles, and most importantly your hair.

    Acidic Water Problems

The majority of borehole and water in Jersey is acidic, if the pH is below 7 the effects are corrosion of your internal plumbing system resulting in the staining of baths, shower head, and of course your hair. The green staining is a result of the acidic water dissolving copper pipes, taps and hot water cylinders, eventually leading to leakage.

    Solution

By injecting a small amount of alkaline solution into the water and raising the pH of the water above 7 this will reduce the corrosion effect of the acidic water.

    How does it work?

The unit is normally installed in a garage or water treatment pump house the soda ash is mixed and stored in a dosing tank and a small pump injects the water via a pulse meter (if installed before garden taps the chemical will not be used when watering the garden etc) as the water passes the pulse meter the soda ash is injected into the water being delivered to the property raising the pH. This unit will periodically need topping up with soda ash that takes about five minutes approximately 6 to 8 weeks period depending on water usage.

    PH correction using alkaline mineral

Water in which the pH is below seven is acidic which can cause pipework corrosion, staining of bath sinks can leave a distinctive the metal taste in water, the simplest way to raise the pH of the water this to pass the water through a vessel containing slowly dissolving calcium and magnesium salts. These salts slowly dissolve into the water remain arising the water and naturally raising the pH. The water can be simply passed through the media through and in an outlet had or through an automatic back washing filter had. The backwash head has the advantage of remixing the media and also removing any debris that the unit has collected.

All mineral pH units have a limited control on the pH of your water and will periodically require topping up or emptying before the pH of the water returns to the acidic scale.
